Abstract :

The aim of this study is to detect the presence of Avian Influenza virus subtype H5 on stray cats (Felissilvestris catus) in Bandung. Trachea and nasal swab of stray cats (Felis silvestris catus) samples were collectedfrom several part like RSHS, Ciroyom Traditional Market, Bandung Zoo, District of Padasuka and Subdistrict ofCicadas. Samples for HA test were isolated from trachea and nasal swab of stray cats (Felis silvestris catus).Swab samples were inoculated in SPF (Specific Pathogen Free) 9-11 days embryoned chicken eggs, then wereincubated at 37 0C for 4 days. At fourth day, the isolate were harvested. The positive result of HA test wascontinued for HI test. HI test was positive when inhibition of hemagglutination was shown, that was signed byunagglutinated, sedimented erythrocytes on the base of microplate’s wells.The result showed that from 34samples, there was one sample (Ciroyom Traditional Market) had Avian Influenza virus subtype H5
