Abstract :
The sustainability of livestock sources is related to birth rate increase and the shortening of calving interval. One of the efforts to shorten the calving interval in dairy cattle is by conducting early diagnosis of pregnancy after mating. The development of early pregnancy diagnosis method in livestock can be undertaken by observing progesterone hormone in the blood of pregnant livestock. This study was conducted by following these stages: 1) Oestrus synconization and artificial insemination of dairy cattle, 2) Dairy cattle pregnancy diagnosis by measuring blood serum progesterone level, and 3) Pregnancy diagnosis with abdominal palpation.Progesterone titer of pregnant dairy cattle obtainen in this reseach was ranging between 1.18 –5.96ng/ml. The result of blood serum progesterone level with abdominal palpation revealed sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive, and negative predictive values of 94,29%, 80%, 90 %, 91,67% and 85,71%.Based on the results, it can be concluded that progesterone hormone can be employed for dairycattle pregnancy diagnosis with Enzyme Immunoassay Method.
