Abstract :

The purpose of this research is to identify the species and stage of mite causesscabies linked to the severity of a crust. This study used nine rabbits as the sample whichhave been infested with scabies and was classified into 3 groups according to the severityof scabies crust, that is severe, moderate and mild. The inspection of species and stage ofmites was based on the scrapping result on the three types of crusts severity. The methodof this research is using the descriptive method. The results of this research, on the typeof the severe crusts were found a Sarcoptes scabiei var. cuniculi mite with the completestage start from egg, larva, nymph, adult male and female mites, Psoroptes cuniculi onthe stage of larva and adult female mite, and Chorioptes cuniculi on the stadium of adultfemale mite. On the type of moderate crust were found a kind of mite named Sarcoptesscabiei var. cuniculi on the stage of egg, larva, nymph, and adult male and female mites,also Psoroptes cuniculi on the stage of adult female mite. Then, on the type of mild crustwere found a kind of mite named Sarcoptes scabiei var. cuniculi on the stage of egg,larva, nymph, and adult male and female mite, so it can be concluded that the Sarcoptesscabiei var. cuniculi is a species of mite that mostly infests the rabbit skin on the varyingseverity of crusting
