Nursing management process analysis in improving nursing care documentation

Abstract :

In 2007–2009, there nursing care documentation of Ibnu Sina General Hospital Gresik was under the target. This affected the patient satisfaction index of the nurse. This study aimed to analyze nursing management process through medical record observation for improving its nursing care documentation. This was a descriptive study with cross sectional design. Data were obtained by interviewing nurse and observation of its nursing management process. The result showed that the nurse team perceptions about working time schedule, duty and authority in nurse care supervision was favorable. Regrettably, their perceptions in nurse working shift and nursing care standard was poor with majority normative working commitment. The working motivation of majority nurses in nurse care documentation were self actualization type. The nursing care documentation was on favorable quantity with good level in reviewing diagnostic, and working aspect. The quality of planning, evaluation, and its documentation were still need much improvement. Perceptions team about scheduling planning time and process of directing nursing care standards, quantity of nursing care documentation in the inpatient unit expressed mostly good. Perceptions team about the planning to determine the number of nurses in each shift guard , delegation of tasks and authorit, supervision of nursing care less either. The quality of nursing care documentation is still not good.
