Abstract :
Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan derajat ekspresi shovel-shaped UI sebesar 33.3 persen, shovel-shaped LI sebesar 3.3 persen, double-shovel UI1 sebesar 43.3 persen, no hypoconulid LM1 sebesar 50 persen, no hypoconulid LM2 sebesar 23.3 persen, no hypocone UM1 sebesar 11.7 persen, dan no hypocone UM2 sebesar 21.7 persen. Rata-rata ukuran UI1 sebesar 8.0 mm, UI2 sebesar 6.0 mm, LI1 sebesar 5.3 mm, dan LI2 sebesar 5.85 mm. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa sampeletnis Arab di SMA Al Irsyad Surabaya mengalami percampuran karakteristik Europoid (no hypoconulid LM dan no hypocone UM2) dengan Mongoloid (shovel-shaped insisif dan double-shovel UI1). Kata kunci:Dental traits, etnis Arab, SMA Al Irsyad Surabaya. Abstract This research describes the metric and non-metric dental traits of Arabs studying in SMA Al Irsyad Surabaya. The Arabs have endogamy marriage system, so that they have the properties of genetic dominant who left an inheritance for the generation. Besides the genetic factor, teeth are not to be easily affected by environmental factor. The purpose of this research was to discover the degree of expression of shovel-shaped incisors, double shovel UI1, no hypoconulid LM, no hypocone UM, and metric incisors. Morphology of teeth may give insight to the affinity of the Arabsin Surabaya. The research was done on 30 study model of dental cast consisting 15 sample of female students and 15 sample of male students in SMA Al Irsyad Surabaya. Data collection was done by visiting the sample conducting, structured interview, making study model, observation, and then scoring the dental traits based on Arizona State University Dental Anthropology System (ASUDAS). The resultindicated that the degree of expression of each dental traits. The degree of expression of shovel-shaped incisors UI was 33.3%, shovel-shaped LI was 3.3%, double shovel UI1 was 43.3%, no hypoconulid LM1 was 50%, nohypoconulid LM2 was 23.3%, no hypocone UM1 was 11.7%, and no hypocone UM2 was 21.7%. The average of upper first incisors was 8.0 mm, upper second incisors was 6.0 mm, lower first incisors was 5.3 mm, and lower second incisors was 5.85 mm. It was concluded that the sample of Arabs in SMA Al Irsyad Surabayawere having mix characteristics of Europoids (no hypoconulid LM and no hypocone UM2) andMongoloids (shovel-shaped incisors and double-shovel UI1).
