Abstract :
Co-education is a learning system which gives lessons to boys and girls together in a classroom and non co- educational is the practice of conducting education where male and female students attend in separate classe. Both systems will affect the development of their self-esteem, which in turn will determine the professional role later in society. The objective of this study is to analyze the differentiation of co-education and non co-education inf luence of self-esteem development among teenagers by giving a profession role playing among teenagers. A non-equivalent control group design study were conducted at two Islamic Boarding School at Bangkalan, Madura Island. There were three treatment groups in study consist of group1: 31 students at second grade students of the Senior High School with a co-educational, group 2: 29 male students at second grade with a non Co-educational, and group 3: 28 female students with a non co-educational. Kruskal-Wallis statistical test were used to analyzed self-esteem before intervention among the three groups (Chi-square = 16.046; p = 0.000). Wilcoxon sign rank test was done to evaluate the differentiation of self-esteem before and after treatment. There is significant difference of self-esteem before and after intervention among three groups (Chi-square = 9.541; p = 0.008). It imply that co- educational system by giving professional role playing affects the development of self-esteem among teenagers.
