Abstract :

Milkfish is one of many superior cultured fish and its market today tends to increase (Tonnek et al, 2001). Milkfish culture can be done in fish ponds and in floating net. Along the development of fish culture, both in floating net sea and pond, there are also some problems that often disturb and obstruct the development of the business, one of which is the emergence of disease caused by parasites. This research is aimed to know both the kind and the prevalence of milkfish gastrointestinal endoparasite which lives in floating fish net and fishpond. The 60 sample fishes were from two floating fish cages, and 130 sample fishes were from fishponds with criteria as 15-20 cm in length and 3 months old. The result of this research showed that from 60 milkfishes in floating fish cages, there was two samples that positively infected by Capillaria philippinensis egg and Camallanus carangis was found in one sample, while the 130 of milkfish samples from the pond was not infected by gastrointestinal endoparasite. The prevalence rate in first floating net is 6.66%, 3.33%  for the second floating net, and 0% for the pond. Finally, there is difference between the prevalence of endoparasites that infect milkfish in floating net UPBL Situbondo and the pond of Bangunrejo, Sidoarjo.
