Abstract :
Eel is freshwater fish commodities. This fish can be encountered in almost all parts of Indonesia, but its utilization is still low, due to the fish not known by many people. Eel as fish consumption who have a good taste and high nutrient content so no wonder if this fish has a very promising market. Field Work Practice purpose (PKL) this is to acquire additional knowledge and experience of working on eel rearing techniques and to investigate the issues that arise as well as get information about rearing eel prospects. Field Work Practice was conducted at the Center for Aquaculture Production Business Services (BLUPPB) Karawang on 14th January until 15th February 2013. Working methods used in the Field Work Practice is descriptive method. Eel rearing activities began with an improved construction, pond preparation consists of drying, the basic soil tillage, liming and filling the water and the installation of fencing biosecurity, anco and shelter. The next activity is the selection of seeds, with a stocking density of 7-10 eel/m2. Pasta feed was given at a dose of 1-2% of biomass is done twice a day. Sampling is done once a month to look at the growth of eel and to control fish health. Water quality is measured consists of temperature from 27.8 to 30.3; DO 7.33 to 8.17; pH 7.07 to 8.16; nitrite from 0.003 to 0.1925, and ammonia from 0.1238 to 0.4797. Harvesting once every 8 months with a survival rate of 80% and earn profit Rp. 43.608.800, Return Cost Ratio 1,83 and Pay Back Periode 25 days.
