India sebagai destinasi utama pariwisata medis di asia selatan

Abstract :

India is one the countries with high economic growth. Medical tourism industry is one of the promising source of Indian economy. Today, India is the main destination for medical tourism in South Asia. Medical travelers from South Asia is the highest tourist ratings who come to India. From this paper, researchers questioned the reason India become the main destination in South Asia. To answer that question, this paper examined the competitive advantage of the India medical industry and the influence of geographic, cultural, and administration distance between India and South Asia countries. From then on, the study found out that India’s competitive advantage especially India’s ability to meet production factor as well as the condition of India’s domestic demand pushing India to be innovative that produces medical quality that is sought by South Asia’s medical tourists. In addition, cultural proximity in particular the use of English as a language between India and South Asia countries, geography proximity between India and South Asia countris, also administrative proximity especially the medical visa policy between India and South Asia countries leads India to become the main medical tourism destination in South Asia.
