Abstract :

Tuberculosis (TB) was the most prevalent disease in Public Health Center in Jember District during 2011-2013. However, both Case Detection Rate (CDR) coverage and number of Public Health Centers that meet the CDR target was decreased. This study aimed to analyze the influence of competence and self-leadership on the performance of the Tuberculosis Control Program officer or called P2TB officer in Jember Health Centers. This study was an observational analytic and cross sectional design. Research conducted by interview andobservation supported to 44 P2TB officers and Public Health Center’s heads who were determined by simple random sampling method. The independent variables are competence and self-leadership while the dependent variable is performance. Based on the results, it was known that competence (p= 0,000; β= 0,582) and selfleadership (p= 0,000; β= 0,415) significantly influence the performance of P2TB officers. Most influential variable is the competence of the value of β= 0,582. This suggests that P2TB Officer should pay more attention toincrease competence and self-leadership, such as for self-observation and self-reward. Head of Public Health Center should assist P2TB Officer by monitoring and evaluating them. Jember District Health Office should maximize validation activity as a medium to improve their knowledge and skills.
