Abstract :

Cancer is the process of body cells proliferation that is uncontrolled. Treatment of cancer such as surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy have many side effects, therefore natural anticancer is needed. The soursoup (Annona muricata L.) is a traditional medicinal plant that is empirically used for anti-inflammatory and antitumor by Indonesian. The purpose of this study is to determine the cytotoxic effect of Annona muricata ‘s seed extract against T47D, HeLa, WiDr and Raji mammalian cancer cell lines. The cytotoxic test performed by MTT assay. The parameter obtained from the cytotoxic test was IC50,  that produce inhibitory concentration of cancer cells by 50%. The results showed that  A. muricata seed extract has a cytotoxic activity with IC50 were 20.36 ± 1.58 µg/mL; 8.91 ± 4.49  µg/mL;  40.06 ± 3.12  µg/mL and 11.24 ± 4.53 µg/mL for T47D, HeLa, WiDr and Raji cells respectively. It can be concluded that the A. muricata seed extract was potential to be delevoped as anticancer agent especially on servics cancer.
