Abstract :
The extension of United Nation peace building mission in East Timor since independence in 2002 raised suspicions that it serves the interests of UN member states who participated in the UN peacekeeping mission in East Timor. To restore the conditions in East Timor, UN made various efforts to form a government of East Timor. However, the process is slow and inefficient. It is caused by two factors, namely internal and external factors. Internal factors are due to the unstable condition of East Timor on its politic, economic, and social. Meanwhile, the external factors are Australia’s interest in the Timor Gap and security issue in the border.
