Case study: diaphragmatic hernia in cat

Abstract :
Diafragmatic hernia is tearing of diafragm, a muscular that separates the abdomen and thorax cavity. The domestic male cat, approximately 1 year old, tan color, weighing 3,5 kg, came to Veterinary Teaching Hospital Airlangga University with clinical signs of respiratory distress, sometimes open breathing. On physical examination the cat's temperature 36.5 oC, heart rate was 160/minute and respiratory rate was 36/minute, asynchronous breathing pattern, dyspnea. Diagnose was based on medical histrory, physical examination and radiographs. Surgical correction was done after the cat stable in a few days.
