Abstract :
This research has been conducted to measure the difference of Epidermal Growth Factor (EGF) concentration between freshand freeze-dried amniotic membranes. Experimental one group pretest - post test design was employed with 13 amniotic membranes. Each amniotic membrane was divided into two parts. The first part was without preservation (fresh) and the second part was withpreservation (freeze-dried). Both parts of amniotic membrane were extracted using ultrasonic disintegrator then the concentration ofEGF was measured using ELISA method. The result showed the average concentration of EGF in fresh amniotic membrane was 122,756± 11,591 pg/g while in freeze-dried amniotic membrane was 100,436 ± 9,690 pg/g. Average degradation of EGF concentration was22,320 ± 15,353 pg/g with estimated percentage degradation between 11,04–23,96%. It can be concluded that EGF concentration infresh amniotic membrane is significantly higher than EGF concentration in freeze-dried amniotic membrane.
