Cytotoxicity of the rapied heat cured acrylic resin after water storage

Abstract :

The purpose of this studi is to know the cytotoxicity of rapid heat cured acrilic resins after water storage on cultured fibroblasts. The aquared speciments of a0mm in length, 10 mm in with and 1.5 mm in thickness were cured of 20 minutes at 1000 C. Fibroblast cells were grow in Eagle’s Minimum Essetial Medium to be 2 X 105 cells/ml, then the cells were added to the samples in the plates ad incubated at 37oC. After hours, the cytotoxic effect was determined by direct cell number count using microscope and a hemocytometer. The statistical analyses using one way anva and LSD test showed there were the significance difference in cell viability (p < 0.05) among the groups. The means percentage of cell viability were 97.33%, 97.50%, 99.00%, that means the longer the immenrsion in the higher the cell viability after water storage for 24, 48, 72 hours. The storage of resin acrylic for only 24 kours in water was not toxic.
