Abstract :
Endophytic fungi are one of the largely untapped resources that likely have several economically important applications in the future. Pharmaceutical industry and plant breeders are interested in endophytes for production of enzymes, medicines and biological control agents. The objective of this work is to isolate and to identify the endophytic fungi which were isolated from the plants Aglaia elliptica, Aglaia eusideroxylon, Aglaia odorata, Aglaia odoratissima and Alyxia reindwartii BI, collected from Purwodadi, East Java, Indonesia. The results of this study, 23 isolates endophytic fungi had been isolated from the plants, Aglaia eusideroxylon, Aglaia odorata and Alyxia reindwartii BI. Endophytes from Aglaia elliptica and Aglaia odoratissima were not growed in this study. One of endophytic fungi from Alyxia reindwartii BI, had been purified, then identified by CBS in Utrecht as a member of genus Lecytophtora and suspected to be a new species composed of 2 strains i.e. AE. 30.1 and AE.30.5. Other fungi isolated from Aglaia odorata and Alyxia reindwartii BI were purified and identified as genus Kluyveromyces, Cyniclomyces, Guillermondella, Hanseniaspora, Arthroascus and Cladosporium. Some others are being purified and in identification process. In this research, metabolit compound produced by fungus Lecythophora are suggested flavonoid, but a further research is needed to elusidate the chemical structures of the metabolites.
