Abstract :

Safe behavior is an act or acts of one or more labors to minimize the possibility of accidents. Based on the Activator- Behavior-Consequence (ABC) model, safe behavior of labor can be influenced by activators and consequences. This study aimed to analyze the influence of activators (management roles, K3 rules and procedures, knowledge, motivation, awareness, and safety needs) and consequences (positive reinforcement and punishment) against the creation of safe behavior on labor in PT. Pupuk Kalimantan Timur. This study was a cross sectional design with analytic study used a quantitative approach. Large sample totaled 96 respondents taken by cluster sampling methods from the total population of 2016 labors. The result data obtained were analyzed statistically using Fisher’s exact test and multiple logistic regression. The results showed that the majority of the labor in PT. Pupuk Kalimantan has made safe behavior when working. Statistical analysis showed that the perception (p = 0.042; OR = 5.735), awareness (p = 0.008; OR: 8.171), and safety needs (p = 0.003; OR = 13.937) as an activator had significant effect on safe behavior of labor, while the consequences (positive reinforcement and punishment) had no significant effect on safe behavior of labor. Advices based from the result were made a reward system that given special to labor who has made safe behavior when working, made observations of the behavior of labor when working, and used the results of behavior on labor observation as a consideration in making policy to improve safe behavior   Keywords: safe behavior, activator, consequence
