Abstract :
Vannamei shrimp culture development continue to be done mainly to increase production. The alternative effortto increase production is to increase the growth rate by the addition of probiotics in feed. Probiotics are productswhich composed by microbes that are beneficial to the host by improving the use of feed and the value ofnutrients, enhancing the host immune response to the disease or improve the quality of the environment. A kindof bacteria which can be used as a candidate probiotic is a type of proteolytic bacteria. This study aims toknowing the characterization of proteolytic bacteria from gastrointestinal tract of white shrimp (L. vannamei). This research uses descriptive methods by observed the proteolytic activity from gastrointestinal tract of whiteshrimp (L. vannamei). The total white shrimp which used at this research are 10 shrimp. The result showed thatthree isolates have strong proteolytic activity from the morphological and biochemical test result have a matchwith the characteristics of the bacterial strains Lactobacillus sp, Pseudomonas sp., and Bacillus sp. Lactobacillussp. and Pseudomonas sp., have amilolytic, cellulolytic and lipolytic activity. Bacillus sp. has amilolytic andlipolytic activity. The results indicate that those three isolates are probiotic potential for vanamei cultureapplication.
