Abstract :

The purpose of this study was about to know the preparative form of complements (complement preserved chemically and freeze dried) that influenced the complement titer at several storage temperatures (room temperature and 4 derajat Celcius) and prolong storaged. Preparation and preservation of complements which were collected from 30 rabbits sera had been measured to obtain the titer. After the complement had divided into 3 parts, one part for chemically preservation treated with 6 % Sodium Acetate, 2 % Boric Acid and 0,25 % Sodium Azide, second part for freeze drying and the third part was for control without any treatment. The stability of each complement titer was measured after some periods of storage (1, 2, 3, 6, 12, 24, 48 days) according to the modified microtechnique method. The results showed that preserved complement either chemically preserved and freeze dried had more stabled titer than non-preserved complement stored at room temperature and 4 derajat Celcius. The storage of preserved complements (chemically preserved and freeze dried) at 4 derajat Celcius for 48 days yielded a significant higher titer compared to room temperature storage. While the duration of storage influenced both the preserved complements titer at room temperature and 4 derajat Celcius.
