Abstract :

Abstract The purpose of this study was to determine the utilization of ultrasonography (USG) as a diagnostic tools for detection of uterus disorders in cats (Felis catus). Six quenns were reffered to the IPB Veterinary Teaching Hospital for evaluating and diagnose by using USG technique according to the clinical cases. Ultrasonographically, the first queen confirmed the presence of small amount intraluminal fluid and the increasing of the uterus wall thickness, therefore she was diagnosed as endometritis. Maceration was diagnosed in the second queen. Sonographic images demonstrated no fetal heartbeat, irregularity of os vertebrae from the death fetal as long white hyperechoic mass and less fluid anechoic around it. In the other hand, the third and fourth queens showed indication of fetal mummification. Sonographic images describes the undefined structure of fetus. In this condition, the fluid and soft tissue of fetus were resorbed, fetal membrane and bone become viscous each other which detected as white mass hyperechoic. Abdominal ultrasound examination of the fifth dan sixth queens revealed a large, tubular shape of both uterine horns with fluid-filled intraluminal indicated with anechoic area. Therefore in last two cases the diagnose was pyometra revealed by the presence of an enlarged uterus due to pus accumulation.
