Abstract :

The calculation of tourist expenditure is important to demonstrate the value of tourism to an area, describe the specific impacts of tourism to the economies of local/state and as a basis for planning a Facility or a new tourist attraction. This paper aims to describe the demographic and socioeconomic characteristics of tourists who visit in groups in Batu, a tourist activity, tourist expenditure  patterns and the factors that influence patterns of tourism expenditure. The study was conducted in Batu with the study population are travelers who make tourism activities. Data collected by direct interview and observation. Characteristics of tourists who come in groups to the Stone is a public medium, highly educated originating from East Java. The pattern of tourist activities in Batu mostly repeaters, a group 5-10 people, the group's core family, extended family or company, visit the three objects, agro-tourism as an option to second  or thirdth, private car transportation and hotel lodging choice non stars. The pattern of tourist expenditure that came  on group in Batu average length of stay 2.83 days, the average tourist expenditure per group is Rp. 2,200,366, the average number of groups of 9 persons and the average tourist expenditure per person is Rp.245 942. The dominant spending are  transport and accommodation. Tourist spending patterns are influenced by variables of origin of tourists and the number of people per group
