Abstract :
This discusses a theoretical debate of Ester Boserup, Michael Lipton, Mark Nathan Cohen, Warren C. Robinson and Parker G. Marden on the relations of food, population increase and agricultural technological changes. Since the era of Malthus (1766-1834), the theoretical debate on the three variables has been becoming a crucial debate. Nowadays, when Indonesia is in economical and monetary crises, the debate is discussed to critisize several government policies in solving the food problem. Is it appropriate, for example, that government policies do not try to shape the variables of population and agriculture?
