Abstract :

Society’s participation in forest management essentially means sustainable development and management of natural resources by people, living in and around a region integrated ecologically, socially and culturally. This research is about the emerging focus of forest management by society. The main aim of this research generally are to analyze of the involvement of Pasuruan society in managing the forest to support the sustainable forest development. This research was done in Pasuruan. The respondents were consisting of 80 respondents who were participated in the forest management activities, and also came from NGO’s and Forestry Departement of Pasuruan. The result of this research showed that generally the level of society’s participation in forest management was high. It was showed by their activities in forest management activities such as determining the plant location, defining a plan for the plant, seedbed, and teaks planting.
