Abstract :
Tourism is an attractive industry in developing and developed countries and it is developed for the following reasons. First, spending spare time with recreation activities by traveling has become part of a human basic need; it creates a wide-open market. Second, tourism is a relatively less-polluted industry. Third, it opens employment opportunities led to society’s increasing income earnings. Fourth, tourism functions as a social-and-cultural hub as it allows people to be acquainted with social and cultural life in other places. As tourism is a complex activity which simultaneously involves recreation activity, traveling, leisure, and spare time, developing tourism requires a holistic analysis of demand and supply factors. This article describes tourism system in Kota Batu by highlighting its demand and supply factors and other elements inside those factors.
