Abstract :
Trypanosomiasis is a disease caused by types of Trypanosoma sp, which includes T. evansi, T. vivax, T. congolense, and T. cruzi. This is the first study in Indonesia attemps to identify Trypanosoma sp on mice (Rattus sp) in Bangkalan District, Bangkalan Regency, Madura that applied Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) as identification method. It was conducted from October 2015 to December 2015. It applied PCR examination on thin blood smear preparations by using pair of primers, namely T. evansi and T. lewisi. The finding of it was indicated that one sample of blood smear preparations was positive. The positive samples undergoes PCR examination. Result of PCR diagnosis showed positive results of Trypanosoma sp with length of DNA band 480 bp for T. evansi, 250 bp and 680 bp as other types of Trypanosoma sp.
