Abstract :
The aim of this research was to determine the potential of carbofuran insecticide in inducing oxidative stress, lowers choline esterase (CHE) and increases cell death during embryonic brain development. Increased cell death during embryonic brain development leads to reduced fetal reflexes and motor function caused carbofuran contaminated during pregnancy. This laboratory experimental studies using 120 mice and carbofuran given by gavage with a fraction of the LD50 dose in mice pregnancy 6-15 days age. At the pregnancy 17 days age, mice were sacrificed and the fetal brain was taken to measure of fetal malonidialdehid (MDA) and choline esterase (CHE) levels, and made preparations to observe the expression of P53 and apoptotic cells undergoing Apopteg Apoptosis Detection Kit. The measurement results were presented in a descriptive variable. Conclusion, LD50 doses of carbofuran insecticides have been found in mice was 0.5 mg, choline esterase and total protein levels decreased as the dose given. Malonidialdehid levels (MDA) of fetal brain increased as the dose given. There were indications of a relationship between the expression of P53 by the number of apoptotic cells and so it is possible apoptotic cell death through the intrinsic pathway.
