The potential of outer membrane protein brucella abortus local isolate as brucellosis vaccine development in indonesia

Abstract :
Outer membrane protein (OMP) of local isolate Brucella abortus were studied by Polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) in an effort to amount of IgG concentration for development vaccines to protect against Brucellosis. Thirty local male rabbits aged 8 weeks were divided into three treatment that are P0 vaccinated with physiological saline (NaCl physiologis), P1 vaccinated with whole Brucella abortus S19 and P2 vaccinated with OMP of local isolate Brucella abortus. Booster vaccination performed twice at intervals for 2 weeks, and observations on the amount of IgG concentration by Elisa method in the first week, second week, third week and the fourth week after the last vaccination.The results showed that each treatment increased the amount of IgG concentration from the first week to the fourth week with an average of P0 is 5.46, 5.71, 5.73 and 5.86 μg / mL, P1 is 14.20, 14.75, 15.51 and 16.36 μg / mL, P2 is 15.43, 16.30, 16.95 and 18.90 μg / mL, and there are significant differences among the three treatments (p < 0.05). These results indicate that the OMP of local isolate Brucella abortus can be used as a vaccine candidate to protect againts Brucellosis.
