Abstract :
Today, globalization has been felt by the people of Indonesia. With the influx of globalization, popular culture is growing. Popular culture is a culture that makes people or groups of people tend to like new innovations, such as fashion, entertainment, facilities, services, and the types of commercial activity and trends. New innovations are created communities led to the birth of a subculture that adopt European culture, namely metal. Metal become a phenomenon these days. Incompatibility of metal with the East personality of Indonesian behind the birth of counterculture metal satu jari. Metal satu jari become opponents of metal music that has Satanism. Their refusal reflected in some typical actions, one of the most famous of which is to change the use of metal symbols are initially two fingers, into a symbol with one finger using the index finger alone. Metal satu jari leads to a religious truth, by incorporate elements of Islam into metal music. This study used a qualitative research method that generates a report description. This research was carried out in several stages, that is observation, interviews, review documents, and analyzed theoretically. The research focuses on the problem "How counterculture metal satu jari against the mainstream metalhead?" Led to the conclusion that the metal satu jari do the counterculture against the mainstream metalhead by changing some of their lifestyle, the symbols used and the meaning in it, the lyrics of the song, ritual , but still retaining some elements of the mainstream metalheads, like attributes are worn and meaning on it, the music, and some ideologies such as antiestablishment and anti-military.
