Abstract :

This  study  aims to explore  main concept  of "self"  in  youth  construction  about self .  This  analysis stand on discursive analysis which concern about modernism development,  late capitalism, and discursive analysis  approach.  Discursive  analysis  was  done  through  four  stages,  i.e.  data  collection,  preparation for  analysis,  analysis,  and  report  writing.  Discursive  analysis  aims  to  describe  the  construction, variability ,  and function of a discourse. In  depth interview were carried to six participants, recorded, transcribed  verbatim,  and  analyzed.  Validation  process  of  analysis  and  interpretation  in  this  research based  on  coherence  principle,  i.e.  every  claims  in  analysis  and  interpretation  must  be  based  on evidences  that  refers  to  texts  and  must  be  clear  formulated.  Research  findings  show  that  youth construct  about  self  as  substantial-self ,  social-self ,  and  rational-self .  Those  concepts  are  adapted with social condition and real situation. The construction process is experienced by youth directive, constructively ,  and repressive. Y outh acceptance of self as concept, divide into two  attitudes:  fully acceptance and selective acceptance. Self as concept have function as gratification of psychological and  instrumental  needs,  and  also  as  form  of  obedience.Sel
