Abstract :
Koi fish farming has several problem such as water quality and maintenance activities, as well as the emergence of some diseases. One bacterial disease that appears in the maintenance of koi fish is aeromonasis, caused by the bacterium Aeromonas hydrophila. Immunostimulants can improve the provision of non-specific immune system so it can fight infection microorganism on the fish. One of the nutrients that have fuction as immunostimulants is vitamin C. The administration of vitamin C can be done as a precautionary measure the occurrence of aeromonasis on koi fish. Vitamin C also has properties that are very easy solube on the water therefore the administration of vitamin C through the enrichmen of Daphnia causes the accumulation of vitamin C in Daphnia’s body, so that vitamin can be absorbed by the fish well when Daphnia eaten by fish. Enrichment of Daphnia performed for 30 minutes with the density of 10.000 individuals/L. This study used doses of vitamin C enrichment of 1,5 g/L, 2 g/L, and 2,5 g/L, as well as the control treatment given the Daphnia are not enriched. The treatmen carried out for 14 days and then challenged by bacterium Aeromonas hydrophila with the density 106 cell/mL. The result showed that administration of vitamin C through the enrichment Daphnia give a real difference to the number of white blood cell and survival rate of koi fish which exposed by Aeromonas hydrophila bacterium. The highest number of white blood cell and survival rate of challenged koi fish is on the enrichment vitamin C doses 2,5 g/L.
