Helminthiasis prevalence of pigeons (columba livia) in surabaya through gastrointestinal tract surgery

Abstract :

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui prevalensi helminthiasis saluran pencernaan, beberapa jenis cacing yang menginfeksi dan pengaruh manajemen kandang pada burung merpati di Surabaya. 100 sampel diambil dari beberapa peternakan burung merpati di lima wilayah Surabaya dan dilakukan pembedahan pada bulan November sampai Desember 2016. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan penelitian jenis survey. Identifikasi dilakukan pada cacing dewasa lalu dilakukan pewarnaan Metode Semichen-Acetic Carmin. Prevalensi  helminthiasis saluran pencernaan pada burung merpati di Kota Surabaya adalah 58%. Jenis-jenis cacing yang ditemukan adalah Raillietina cesticillus dan Ascaridia columbae. Infeksi tunggal oleh R. cesticillus (43%) dan A. columbae  (5%). Infeksi campuran oleh R. cesticillus dan A. columbae  (15%). Prevalensi helminthiasis pada saluran pencernaan burung merpati kandang ekstensif lebih tinggi dengan persentase 68% dibandingkan dengan kandang intensif dengan persentase 48%.
