Abstract :

The purpose of this study was to know influence of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. calyx extract on alveolar histopathological feature of cigarette smoke exposed mice. Twenty male mice (Mus musculus) aged 3 months old with 25-30 g of body weight were divided into four groups. There were P1 (without cigarette smoke and Hibiscus sabdariffa L. ethanol extract), P2 (cigarette smoke), P3 (250 mg/kg body weight of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. ethanol extract and cigarette smoke), and P4 (500 mg/kg body weight of Hibiscus sabdariffa L. ethanol extract and cigarette smoke). This research has been conducted for 14 days. The data were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test. The result showed that Hibiscus sabdariffa L. calyx extract did not influence congestion, hemorrhage, and thickening of alveolar septa on alveolar histopathological feature of cigarette smoke exposed mice.
