Abstract :
Antipyretic drugs are recommended as first line medication to heal high fever and seizure caused by feverafter immunizations. A research reported that antipyretic drugs that used before immunizationsignificantly decreased concentration of antibodies so the effectiveness of vaccination decreased. The aimof this survey was to know how far mother’s knowledge about the usage of antipyretic drug afterimmunization and also to analyze correlation of knowledge towards different age groups, jobs and levelsof education. This research was a cross sectional study with questionnaire as the main instrument. Thesample was 120 respondents from an accidental sampling technique. The inclusion criteria in this surveywas the mother who have kid under two years old in RW 1 to RW 4 Kelurahan Gubeng, KecamatanGubeng, Surabaya. The data were processed by descriptive analysis that displayed the number andpercentage of total knowledge scores of the respondents. Differences in knowledge scores based onrespondents' characteristics were analyzed using one way ANOVA from SPSS program. There was adifference between the knowledge and the last education of the respondents (p=0.003). Respondents whohad score 7-10 from a maximum score 10 were 64 people (53%), so education needs to be done throughhealth promotion regarding the use of medication for fever after immunization.
