Abstract :

Baby skin is more sensitive and prone to get allergies and irritation such as rash. Rash on baby skin could be caused by many things. One of the causes is use of diapers which could cause diaper rash or diaper dermatitis. The causes of diaper rash are important to know by the parents or baby sitters. In Indonesia, based on statistic by Pediatric Dermatology Division of Children Skin Clinic on Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital Jakarta, in year 2005 to 2009 it was known that one of three infants has experienced diaper rash. Diaper rash incidents reach rate of 7-35% which used to happen to babies and infants below three years old. Based on survey that were conducted in three parks in Surabaya, mothers whom have high knowledge about definition, cause, prevention, and treatment of diaper rash were only 55 respondents or 45,4%. Therefore, an efforts to increase knowledge about diaper rash is needed. One of the efforts to increase awareness and knowledge about diaper rash is through a health promotion program in form of socialization to mothers who have babies and infants below three years old which are using diapers.
