Abstract :

The increasing number of purchases has caused the cosmetics industry growing fast, including lipstick cosmeticsindustry. One of the factors that affects consumers in choosing lipstick products is a safety factor, because the safetyof lipstick products will have an impact on the consumer's health. But there are still consumers who choose lipstickproducts based on other factors and ignore the safety factor. The majority of cosmetic users which is lipstick arewomen at range around 18-24 years. This age can be represented by female college students. Therefore, this studyaimed to determine the behavior of lipstick selection among diploma and undergraduate students in Campus BAirlangga University. The method used in this study is a non-random purposive sampling observation method, withdescriptive data analysis. From this study, it is known that some respondents pay attention to product safety in thechoice of lipstick. This is indicated by the number of respondents who checked the expiration date of 78% andrespondents who examined the presence of allergic reactions by 56%.
