Abstract :

Cervical cancer is considered to be the most common cancer after breast cancer that occurs in women living in low to middle income countries. In 2012, 445.000 new cases of cervical cancer have been reported and approximately 270.000 women died due to cervical cancer (84% new cases in worldwide). Cervical cancer is 70% caused by HPV type 16 and type 18. Cervical cancer can be prevented by HPV vaccination. As the occurence number of cervical cancer is still high eventhough HPV vaccination is available, the profil of accessed information, which have been obtained by female college students outside health science programme in Universitas Airlangga, to their awareness of undergoing HPV vaccination, was observed. Data collection was done by using non-random sampling method through purposive sampling approach. All data was collected by interviewing respondents using questionnaire as instrument and was analyzed descriptively. From 100 respondents, 63 of them stated that they had not known about HPV vaccination as a prevention of cervical cancer. From those 63 respondents, 90% of them had a willingness to search more information about HPV vaccination through internet and health workers as source of information.
