Abstract :
The aim of this study was to determine and understand the number of pyometra incidences by X-Ray examination and the influence towards age and race on dogs at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Airlangga University within April to July 2015. 333 dogs are used as reference of secondary data using age, breed and pyometra cases as variable. The data were evaluated using the descriptive analysis and Chi-square. Results showed that the incidence of pyometra in dogs in Veterinary Teaching Hospital of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Airlangga University was 9.3%, or 31 cases out of 333 bitches at the hospital during the period. Many researches showed that the age and breed affects the incidence of pyometra in dogs. In this study, the highest incidence in dogs within the age of 8-12 years was 23.9%, while the lowest incidence in aged less than 4 years of 3.7%. The highest incidence in dogs of large breed category was 17.1%, while the lowest incidence of pyometra 0% was giant dog breeds.
