Abstract :
The purpose of this study was to charaterize adhesin molecular weight of S. mutans fimriae with the specific receptor molecular weight of dental pellicle glycoprotein that play arole in the pathogenesis of dental caries. The stages of the this study were, first, performing fimbrial isolation, followed with dental pellicle isolation, inducing polyclonal antibodies from fimbrial isolat and from dental pellicle isolates. These materials were used in western blotting test. Protein band appeared from the results of blotting test was matched with broad marker protein from Sigma used during elektrophoresis, thereby, the molecular weight coult be estimated. Results obtained from this study was that the estimated molecular weigth of fimbrial AM playing a role in the pathogenesis of dental caries was 204,4 kDa, while the estimed molecular weigth of the receptor molecular of pellicle glycoprotein was 118 kDa. The estimated molecular weigths of adhesin and its spesific receptor from the early process of dental caries can be applied for producing preventive materials of dental caries
