Abstract :

Library is one of institution that active in sector of information service to fillthings that the customers needs. Informasi has been servised such as book, caset,vcd / dvd , etc. So, the library commite must developing quality of informationservice, especially about the collections in the library. The category of goodlibrary service it has been looked by the quality of collections. Between thequality of collections, people can get valid information and relevan with theinformation as they needs. And also collections in the public library, it must bebalance with the people needs, where is the consumer from some grade (up anddown) community. So , the commite of the library should supplying variation ofcollections by the sector. This description of the research talking about perception of the consumersfor the quality of collections in Surabaya's public Library The value from thisresearch for detecting how consumers has preception about quality of collection inSurabaya's public library. Population in this research is the costumers of publiclibrary. The sampel that had been used with purposive sampling is the costumershad borrowing the collections and read the collections in the library. This is wayfor data that has been more accurate between they assumption about people whohas fill the requisite is those people who really know that the collection hasquality or not. It's about 100 persons for takes the sample.The results of research undertaken researchers using theory 7 dimensionsof product quality (Garvin) consists of 1)the user's perception of the performanceaspect is quite in accordance with the percentage of 66% with the screeningcriteria of library materials, where the contents of the information can be trusted,it is useful for its users. 2) user perception of the aspects of privilege already helpsthe user in information retrieval with a percentage of 97%. 3)User perception ofthe aspects of conformance respond to the library has been able to perform thefunction and purpose of Surabaya City Public Library, 4) User perception of thedurability aspect has been quite a lot of borrowing and strong binding conditions,not easily torn, and easy to open pages in the collection but on the other handthere is a broken binding, 5) User perception of the aspects of the library serviceabilities fast enough in repairing the damaged collection, 6) the user's perceptionaesthetic aspects are enough to make the user interested in selecting collections,and 7) the perception of the user on the aspect of brand name-image simply helpsus to know the quality of the book or not seen from the credibility of authors andwriters.
