Abstract :

 Blue swimmer crab is one of the fishery commodities with high economic value, so it is profitable to be cultivated. One important method in aquaculture is the enlargement technique which is absolutely necessary to increase the production of crab. The purposes of the Field Work Practice are to acquire the knowledge, skills and work experience as well as to understand the obstacles or problems in the crab enlargement technique. Field Work Practice was held in UPBL Situbondo, East Java, on                14th January-14th February 2013. Working method used in this Field Work Practice is descriptive method. Data collection was included primary and secondary data. Data collection was done by the active participation, observation, interviews, and literature. Enlargement techniques of blue swimmer crab include providing vessel, pond preparation and equipment, the supply of water directly from Selat Madura, water changes and cleaning, selection, stocking of small crab with a stocking density of 5 each meter2 or 40 each pond and feeding twice  a day. Common obstacles include the enlargement of blue swimmer crab are water conditions often unclean and inadequate of staff expert. The solutions are the addition of filter in sea water distribution pipe and new workers recruitment.
