Abstract :
Classical mechanism of estrogen receptor (ERs) action is well known, The classical mechanism of ERs action involves estrogen binding to receptor in the nucleus (nuclear receptor). After binding with receptor in the nucleus these complexes attach to specific DNA response element known as estrogen response element (EREs) that located in the promoters of target gene. The classical mechanism is called as genomic action.. Recent studies show that data regarding estrogen-triggered rapid signaling response independent of nuclear localization. ERs can also regulated gen expression without directly binding to DNA. These have been reffered to as non genomic action . Because of the mechanism initiated from the plasma membrane so called membrane initiated estrogen response. In this article, we will review the genomic action and the evident for plasma membrane ERs initiated estrogen response that called as non genomic action.
