Abstract :

Katukis is a medicinal plant which has several active compounds that can play an important role in the metabolism of carbohydrates, fatty acids and proteins. The research was conducted in Bogor which aims to determine the profile of partial Volatile Fatty Acids (VFA) sheep was given fraction katuk leaf extract. The completely randomized design (CRD) was used with four replications and four treatments of fraction katuk leaf extract. The treatments were control, ethanol crude extract (1500 mg/day EtOH extract), fraction of dilapidation extract (1230 mg/day FDL) and fraction of hexane extract (270 mg/day FH).Fraction katuk leaf extract was given orally to sheep in capsules2 times per day for 2 months. The results showed that the profile of partial VFA sheep induced by fraction katuk leaf extracts were not significantly different. The treatment of EtOH crude extract tended to improve the ratio profile of partial VFA by hitting percentage of acetic acid (C2) and increased the percentage of propionic acid (C3) with a ratio of acetate: propionate was 66%: 23%.  Profile of partial VFA valuesin this study are still within the normal range sheep.
