Abstract :

The aim of this study was to study the histopatological changes of chicken caecum after being infected with Eimeria tenella sporocyst. Fourty chickens 2 weeks old were used in this experiment. The chickens were divided randomly into 4 experimental groups there were consisted 10 chickens each group. Chicken in group I (control) were infested with 5.000 oocysts of Eimeria tenella . Each chicken in groups II, III, IV were infested with 20.000, 40.000 and 4.000 sporocyst of Eimeria tenella respectively. Seven days after the infestations, all chickens were killed for histopatological examination of caecum). The data was analyzed using Kruskal-Wallis method. The results showed that there were a significant difference (P  0,05) between groups infested with Eimeria tenella oocysts and all groups of chickens infested with Eimeria tenella sporocyst. There were no significantly difference between groups of chickens infested with 20.000 and 4.000 sporocysts. However there were significantly difference, among the groups infested with 40.000 and other treatment group. Histopatological findings at all chickens either control or treatment groups showed that mucous of caecum were infiltrated with inflammatory cells, necrotic and degeneratif cells, haemorrhagic and stadium schizont of the parasites were found. Although chicken in the treatment groups were affected mildly. From this results, the use of sporocyst of Eimeria tenella can be considered as the future of vaccine developing of Coccidiosis.
