Abstract :

The slowly growth is the problem of gouramy culture. There are many effort to increase the production of gouramy fry. One of alternative effort is male monosex method through sex reversal using methyltestosteron sintetic hormone. The aim of this study were to determine the effects of juvenile age that were dipped in methyltestosteron sintetic hormone on the successful sex reversal (male percentage) and growth improving of gouramy fry. Treatments used were: control (I), egg phase (II), 0-day/new hatching (III), 7-days after hatching (IV), 14-days (V), 21-days (VI) and 28-days (VII). Each treatment had three replicates. The result indicated that gonads of gouramy fry were not good formed (fry age  4,5 months), so that the effect of treatment on the successful sex reversal have not identified yet. The treatments significantly influenced the relative growth rate (length and wide of fish) and specific growth rate of gouramy fry and highly significant influenced the survival rate of gouramy fry.
