Abstract :

The experiment was carried out to observe the effect of ultra violet (UV) Radiation on post thawing sperm of dairy cattle against sex ratio of sperm cells bearing chromosome X and Y. As samples sixty straws of frozen semen dairy cattle were divided into two groups of thirty. Group 1, consisted of thirty straws was divided into three subgroups of ten straws. After thawing, straws in each subgroup were exposured in UV light for 5 , 10 and 15 minutes respectively. In group 2 , after thawing straws were allowed in water and exposured in UV light for 5, 10, 15 minutes respectively. The variable is the sex ratio of sperm cells bearing chromosome X and Y. The results showed that sex ratio of sperm cells bearing chromosome X and Y in groups 1 and 2 were significantly different (P< 0.01).
