Abstract :
It is undeniable that the expertise on metal work influent the culture of the human. It is proofed by the naming of the age by using the name of the metal such as iron age and bronze age. The identification of the metal for the metal arts work such as sculpture, holy object, music instrument of gambelan, decoration for desk or window or more even for the souvenir such as Indonesian type of dagger or keris is not easy to be identified since should utilize technique and equipment which is time and cost consuming. It is the purpose of this work to introduce archaeometallurgy technique that generally use in archaeology to be able to be utilize by the metal art maker in Indonesia. With this technique, the identification of iron, steel, copper, bronze, brass and red brass can be realized with moderate cost and reliable time so that the metal artist can produce their product with using guaranteed material.
