Abstract :
One hundred year long conflict between the government of Thailand and its southern provinces has not been resolved. This essay is aimed at exploring the probability of Indonesia’s involvement to become an intervener in the conflict. Indonesia indeed, has had experience as a facilitator in internal conflicts of other country, but it is not adequate in the Southern Thailand case. I argue that Indonesia has not possessed sufficient capability to play the role since Indonesia has no entry consent for its involvement and has not been equipped with variety of strategies to conduct a constructive involvement in the conflict. There have been also a number of internal restraints hampering Indonesia’s role to perform a meaningful role in the conflict settlement.
