Abstract :
It is widely known that the Madurese herbal is one of the character of Madurese society besides sate, karapan sapi and carok. Since the Dutch colonial, the Madurese herbal always be related with Madurese women that have skill to deliver their husband. It is contrary with what happened in Kalimantan that herbal always related with man. This research aim to discover the herbal using in Madurese women. This research focus on Bangkalan regency in 6 months with many questions : first, why are Madurese women use herbal more than man? Second, how Madurese women use herbal? Third, are there relation between using herbal with Madurese women tends to monogamous? In other word, are there relation between using herbal wi th tendension of Madurese man to polygamous ? This research use a qualitative methodology. This method effort to placed individu (human) in the hole and not reduced it on variables. This research discover five phenomenon : first, Madurese women use herbal more than man because its habit related with reproduction circle for menstruation to birth process. Second, commonly Madurese women use herbal since they are teenager but widely they use it after married. Its phenomenon can describe the relation between h erbal with harmonization in marriages. But actually it is not a primary goal. The primary goal is using herbal to improve their healthy. Third, this is a close relationship between improving healthy with the role of Madurese women in domestic and public sector. Fourth, Madurese herbal be used not only to family union but also to help family income. Fifth, these phenomenon contrast with commons sense and general believe that Madurese women use herbal to improve sexual satisfied. Actually, they use it as a to nicuum to their role in domestic and public sector.
