Abstract :

There was an assumption that human males were more dominant than human females, whichcould be a drawback for the women . The purpose of this research was to observe and thendescribe women in social and family perspectives in Indonesian women’s current novels. Thiswas a qualitative research using feminist method to discuss the role of women. The data werecollected by means of documentation. The data, then, were analyzed through descriptive andcontent analysis technique. There were three stages of analysis: (1) identification, (2)comparation, and (3) application. It was found that women could involve in social lifethrough their existences, particularly in social and family aspects. In social life women werenot seen unfairly and were not underestimated. As human beings, Indonesian women hadequal right in the society. In their family women coud have multiple roles--as mothers andprofessional workers according to their profession or skills.
