Abstract :
The study of endogamy done by Nur Bayan's original generation in Pakoran village is interesting because the unique custom does not occur in most Madura tribe. The community of Nur Bayan in Pakoran village applies ‘syariat’ Islam in marriage law which bans a limitation of close generation relationship (nasab), cousin in law (musyaharah) to be married as ruled in Islam marriage law. This research is about marriage cultural values of endogamy and found that almost all Pakoran community who still has a close relative does marriage but they still limit that the bride/bridegroom is as not ruled in the Quran in Surah An-nisa article 23 and 24. Couples from Nur Bayan's generation is never forced by their parents to have a wife or a husband from their own relatives, but with their own awareness to keep big name of Nur Bayan, they prefer doing endogamy. However, there are also brides/bridegrooms who were chosen by their parents before marriage to keep a prestige as Nur Bayan's generation. The research also found that factors influencing the shift of marriage cultural value are the availability of choices for the community of Pakoran village to have their brides/bridegrooms out of Nur Bayan's generation and possibility for the community to leave their home so that they do not have any consequence to what happen in the village.
